From a chateau in central France this is a stunning pair of gold silk and cotton brocade curtains which would have dressed the sides of the French windows with a lighter muslin or lace curtain at the centre hence the long narrow shape 

The shimmer of the silk and the bright gold colour are sumptuous and the brocade pattern of bows, cords, flower garlands and sprays are perfect chateau chic

They are fully lined with a wool felt for insulation....it can get pretty draughty in a massive chateau....and over that a beige glazed cotton, they also have their original large antique brass rings attached for hanging

Dating from the early 20thc they are in surprisingly good condition, a little damp staining on the lining probably from touching the window, the silk is in good order, a slight beginning of shattering on the side of one curtain where it has had a long exposure to light, they also have that old fabric smell and need an airing

Each curtain measures 106" by 24", 270cm by 61cm not including the fringe
